Guided Reading Program in English and Khmer in Cambodia

Between 2024 and 2025, Magic Libraries supported Smiling Gecko to enhance the reading compentencies of 400 children in the province of Chhnang.

Magic Libraries’ support facilitated the acquisition of new children’s books (in Khmer and English) and digital ressources to help children develop their language skills. Teachers received training in guided reading strategies. Overall, Smiling Gecko’s reading literacy program was improved through the introduction of new teaching methods and the implementation of weekly reading and storytelling activities in classrooms and the library.
