Reading is essential to the development of a child and is one of the key foundations to acquire knowledge and skills

Magic Libraries has two main objectives:

  • Create and support community libraries in disadvantaged countries and areas,
  • Contribute to the training of translators of children’s books in national and minority languages.

Under these two objectives, Magic Libraries will support:

  • Creation of new community libraries and development of existing community libraries
  • Training of librarians, teachers, educators and/or schools to manage and value stocks of books for children and young people
  • Acquisition of children’s books
  • Reading activities (community and peer reading, reading workshops competitions, storytelling)
  • Translation of children’s books into national, minority and ethnic languages
  • ​​Training for translators (incl. scholarship)
  • Publication of translated books and pedagogical material
